Andrew had his first T-Ball game last week. He loves it, but it has been incredibly hot this month and we are struggling to enjoy the games in the heat! We signed up with the Maize Rec league only to find out after the fact that they play every MWF night for the month of June. To us that's a bit much for 5 year olds. We may not do it next year, but we are trying to hang in there for this month. Keith is helping as an assistant coach, and Jonathan, Hannah and I try to cheer from the sidelines. It's great comic relief! Most of these kids have never played and of course everyone wants to get the ball. The good news is that there is a 6-run rule for each inning, which is a good thing because they very rarely get 3 outs. Now if this 100 degree weather and wind would leave, we could enjoy the games a little more!

Memorial Day Fun
We went to Hutch Sunday evening to celebrate Memorial Day with family. The wind was fierce - think Hurricane force, but that didn't stop the kids from wanting to play outside! The boys were running races and had a little trouble running in a straight line because the wind kept pushing them. But they didn't care and kept running and running and running. (I'm also blaming wind for my blurry pictures. Not sure why this happened, so it must've been the wind!)
And then for a special treat, Andrew and Jonathan spent the night at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Notice I did not say that they slept at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Jonathan was up at 3 needing a drink, and then they were both up with the sun around 6:30. But they had a great time despite being exhausted. And their parents had a nice break and ran some errands with only Hannah and got lots done around the house! All in all, it was a great 3-day weekend!

First Foods
Hannah's been trying lots of new foods lately. She does NOT like baby cereal or green beans. She tries to block them with her tongue. If I manage to get them in her mouth, she uses her gums to scrape them off her tongue as she does a little shudder. Such drama! But she loves fruit, especially pears and applesauce. And really who can blame her?! She also like to chew on foods in her little mesh bag. So far we've only given her apples and cantaloupe. I've tried to find Biter Biscuits, but can't find them anywhere. I guess they don't make them anymore, which is a shame, because this girl would love them!

Last Day of School
Wednesday was Andrew's last day of school. They invited family to come a little early for a picnic lunch. For fun last day activities, they played outside games and ran obstacle courses in the gym, which is why Andrew looks like someone dumped a bucket of water on his head. He wasn't really interested in smiling for the camera. He was sad that it was the last day, but had a little trouble admitting it until a couple days later. Such a sweet boy!

Family time
Fiesta Day!
Last Friday, I was able to help with Andrew's class party. It was Fiesta Day, complete with paper plate sombreros and a pinata! We were a little worried that the pinata would break before all 19 kids were able to take a turn at hitting it. But we worried in vain. Each kid took two good swings at the dinosaur, with no results. Finally Mrs. B. took out some aggression and it still didn't break. One of the other parents used his keys to try and cut some holes to make the candy fall out. Still nothing. In the end, we ripped off the legs and dumped out the pinata much to the kids delight! Then we went back to the classroom for snacks - chips, salsa, cheese dip, guacamole and sopapilla cheesecake. Yummy to everyone but Andrew. So glad I had the chance to help in his class!
