Final hugs good-bye

Jonathan has had a great year of preschool, so his last day was bittersweet. His teachers have been super sweet and he has been excited to go to school every day! I know Jonathan will miss his teachers and friends, but he is super excited to go to Kindergarten and ride the bus with Andrew. It's hard to believe this little guy is already going to full-time school. This is one of those days when I wish time would slow down a smidge!

Firemen visit Preschool

ladder truck demonstration

Jonathan and his class waiting for their turn to climb inside the fire truck.

The first Friday in May, some local firemen visited Jonathan's preschool. The firemen gave a presentation to both kids and parents, separately. They taught the kids what to do in a fire, while the parents were presented scary facts about the dangers of fire. (Nice, especially for those of us prone to anxiety.) Then we got to go outside and see the fire trucks - the main event. Unfortunately, it was another freezing cold day and the kids weren't very interested in spending a lot of time outside, but they did like climbing in the trucks and looking at all the gadgets.

Jonathan's Spring Program

The theme of Jonathan's Spring program was "Summer Fun."
The whole preschool - Jonathan is on the top row, third from the left.
Jonathan did such a great job of singing all the songs and doing all the motions.

There were lots of cute photo ops set up, but getting all three to look at the camera was quite the challenge.

Carmen joined us for the program. Unfortunately, we didn't think to take a picture of her with the kids inside with the cute props. Fortunately, everyone in this photo is cute enough that you don't miss the decorations!

Jonathan's Preschool Christmas Program

Jonathan doing the motions - top row, third from the left.

The theme was, "Happy Birthday, Jesus."

Jonathan's program was on the first day of Andrew's Christmas break, so he was able to watch his little brother perform!

I didn't notice when I took their picture, but Jonathan is holding Hannah's hand. It might've been to keep her from running away, but it looks so cute!

Thanksgiving Preschool Party

Doing the turkey dance - so cute!

Praying for our Thanksgiving feast.

His buddy, Jackson, cheesin' for the camera.

Enjoying the feast of beef stew that all the kids helped make, a roll, fruit, cheese and crackers and a Capri Sun to drink, or as Jonathan calls them, "Summer Salts."

Spinning in a circle

Jonathan was one of the first to pick an activity from the turkeys tail behind him. If you look closely you can see he is jumping in the air. Everyone had a turn to pick an activity.

Mrs. M and Mrs. W, explaining that they each got to bring home a little turkey filled with M&Ms!
Such a fun Thanksgiving party!

Jonathan and Friend Bear

Jonathan was selected the first weekend of November to bring his classroom mascot, Friend Bear, home for the weekend. This is a highly anticipated event! Each week, a different child is chosen to bring home the bear and they are encouraged to document their weekend with pictures and short story to take back to school on Monday. This was our weekend with Friend Bear:

Jonathan's Weekend with Friend Bear
I was so excited to bring Friend Bear home and have him meet my family and my cousin Ashley, who is visiting from Washington DC.  The first thing we did was have a yummy Chick-fil-A lunch.

After lunch,  I showed Friend Bear the train track I built in the basement, and we played trains together.
On Saturday, my brother and I had a special donut breakfast with my dad and then we went to Home Depot and built a turkey napkin holder. We didn't take Friend Bear with us, because we didn't want him to get paint on him or get lost.

On Sunday, we went to church and then Friend Bear and I watched the movie about Jesus with my brother and sister.   It was kind of sad and scary at times, but it has a happy ending.

After that we went to the library to get some new books. Friend Bear and I found lots of great ones to bring home, and we did some new puzzles while we waited for my mom to check out our books.
Friend Bear and I had a busy and fun weekend together!

Random October Photos

Clearly I'm beyond behind when it comes to posting. Here are some photos I found in my October folder that never got posted. So, I'm going to backdate and try to get caught up this month...

Hannah likes to think she is big like her brothers and tries to use their scooter. She is 2 now, you know, so big scooters are the logical next step for her!
My big helper, Jonathan, vacuuming!
Phone - check, mommy's sneakers - check
These kittens live a very rough life.
Craft time - marshmallow ghosts on construction paper. Thank you Pinterest for this fun idea. I think they glued almost as many marshmallows as they ate!
Jonathan's school picture - turned out so awesome. Sad that I only ordered one 8x10!
Jonathan had pumpkin patch day at school and brought home this adorable little pumpkin.
