Boat Races

Last Friday, Keith competed in the base's Winter Bash Boat Race. The catch to the Boat Race is that each boat must be made of cardboard and the race takes place in the gym's indoor swimming pool. Two teams compete against each other and the winners with the fastest time wins. Sadly, Keith's boat didn't quite make it to the finish line before their boat tipped, but they did have a good time

A balmy 34 degrees

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed a beautiful day and so Andrew and I played outside. While 34 may sound cold to you, it felt like a spring day to us and Andrew loved every second of it. I gave him a snowball thinking he would throw it. He didn't. He ate it and with each bite he would look at me and say, "Cole." But even though it was cold, he didn't put that snowball down. He had a great time splashing in the melting snow and trying to walk on top of it. And yes, those are beads around his neck. He can't go anywhere without his bling!

"Fickit" (Fix it)

We had a slight problem with the dishwasher the other day and Andrew decided to help Daddy "fickit." I'm getting a bit of a twitch when I think about Andrew learning how to use a screwdriver and what else he might "fix."

Say Cheese!

Andrew has a fascination with the camera. It's hard to get good photos of him lately because he just wants to touch the camera. So, the other night, Keith held the camera out in front of them and here are Andrew's reactions to the flash in his eyes. Sadly, I don't think this has cured him of his love of the camera!

A bowl or a hat?

Andrew found this bowl and decided it should be his hat. Sadly it doesn't quite fit and so he has to run around holding it on his head.

Super Bowl Sunday

Our good friends, Paul and Amy came over to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday. Andrew was so happy to see new people that he basically ignored Keith and I. (With temperatures in the negative twenties, we decided to stay in for the past couple of days.) He literally climbed all over them as you can see. They also brought a Mardi Gras King Cake - much like a giant cinnamon roll, very yummy - and it came with beads. The beads were a huge hit. All in all it was a great night for Andrew - new people and new beads. What more could a 19-month-old ask for??

Snow Fun!

Andrew was so excited to be outside he kept doing the happy feet dance.

Andrew loved being outside even though he couldn't feel his face after a few minutes and yes, that is a snow chunk in his hand.

Today it was a balmy -4 with a wind chill of -21 and so we decided to toughen Andrew up the North Dakota way. Actually it didn't seem that cold until we were out helping Keith shovel the driveway. I think I spent more time dressing Andrew in all of his layers than we actually spent outside. And he was not happy about coming back inside, but we didn't want him to get frost bite on such a sunny day.
