Brothers on the run
Notice how tightly Hannah was clinging to me. She wanted nothing to do with that frog!
They put the frog down for about 2 seconds while I tried to take a picture of them. Then it was back to torturing the frog.
We had a giant, delicious lunch of smoked turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, homemade bread, spinach salad, applesauce, banana pudding and fancy strawberry cake. I might be forgetting something, but who could remember after all that food?! Josh was home for the weekend, and he joined us for the feast. Poor guy had to sit between the babies. Fortunately they didn't throw too much food at him, but Hannah did give him the evil eye.
After lunch, we hid some eggs and sent the kids out to hunt. About half-way through the hunt, as I was helping Luke find an egg hidden in the flowerbed, out jumped a fat frog. After that, the eggs were forgotten and the frog was the highlight of the day. Andrew carried that poor frog all over the yard. He buried it in mulch and then washed it off in the rain water bucket. He dropped it a couple of times. He squeezed it tight, and occasionally, after much coaxing from the adults, he would set the frog on the ground. And as freedom was in it's sight, Andrew would scoop it up again and the torture continued. We finally told him it was time to set the frog free and let it find it's home and he did. If that frog survived, it has quite the story to tell it's grandchildren!
After the excitement of the frog and the egg hunt, we packed up and came home. Hannah took a nice nap in the car, but the boys chatted it up the whole.way.home.
