Fun with Family - Day 1

I'm not sure what Cate just told me, but I don't think I believed her!

The boys worked all morning to build Ben's cool Legos.

 

Hannah wasn't quite sure what to think when she woke up that first morning to a house full of people very happy to see her.

Andrew had a T-Ball game that night and we all went to watch. Here he's playing pitcher.

 

I want to know what he was thinking! He looks a little bored or frustrated.

The game that night was at the practice field and so the seating wasn't ideal...

Grammy and Grandpa and the Fleurys came for a few days of fun. We jammed in as much fun and excitement as we could find in four-short days. Wednesday was sort of a relaxing, hang-out day that ended in us watching Andrew's T-ball game.

Oh, Miss Hannah. 20 months already. It seems like you think life is a sprint instead of a marathon. It makes me a little sad to realize your 2-year birthday is just around the corner. You are growing up so fast and are soaking up the world around you.

You are still busy as ever and want to play with everything the boys have, which is not always good. Especially when they are playing with Legos. Your version of Lego building is really more destruction, as in decapitating all of their little men. Not so helpful.

Your latest trick is to take off your pants, skirt, shorts, basically whatever bottoms I have chosen for the day. Then you sit and try to put them back on, eventually you give up and run around with only a diaper until we need to leave the house. I have a feeling your going to be one of those kids who likes to change clothes six times a day. Oh my laundry.

You are still very loving, giving lots of hugs and eye-eyes and sometimes kisses. But your strong will is starting to rear its ugly head. We're pretty sure you are going to make us cry somewhere along the way...For now we are trying to stay strong and consistent, and trying not to laugh when you outright defy one of us.

And then a little scary...

 We had a fun Father's Day. Church and then lunch with Daddy, rest time and then dinner with Grandpa and Grandma and the Eigstis. And rides. Dinner at Grandpa's house always included fun rides!

Fun Day at the Farm

Grandpa bought this awesome cart/tricycle toy many years ago and the grand kids are finally big enough to try it out.

It took them no time at all to the get the hang of it!

 

Hannah wasn't too sure about it and was content to let Grandpa hold her while she watched the boys.

Update: My friend Lisa, found the answer to my question. A Cottonwood Borer is the answer and a I found lots of info on it when I Googled it. Sometimes the Internet is very helpful! And thank you Lisa for saving me search time!

And then we discovered a frog and the horse cart was completely forgotten!

Hannah didn't understand why she couldn't turn the pages of the little kids' book.

Then it was time for BIG rides.

Even Hannah got a ride on the new 4-wheeler. She wasn't nearly as excited as the boys and refused to go near it without Grandma,

 

A couple weeks ago, we met the Nisly family at Carriage Crossing for breakfast. Verlin and Violet and family were in town to help with harvest so we got to see them too. Breakfast was a little chaotic and so sadly there are no pictures to document the giant table we filled and the yummy food we consumed.

After breakfast, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to play. Grandpa had bought a horse cart/tricycle many years ago in anticipation of the fun it would bring to the grandchildren. So much fun in fact, that Andrew declared we needed to take it home with us. We also had lots of rides on big machines and enjoyed a beautiful day in June, a rarity in Kansas! Oh, and we also tormented frogs. How those poor things survived the love they received that day, I have no idea!

Mother's Day Dinner

Mother's Day weekend turned out to be a very busy weekend. So Sondra and I took Mom out to dinner at Ciao's Italian Restaurant the next weekend and then we did a little shopping, all kid free! It ended up being a Mother's Day treat for all us!

Wheat Harvest

Hannah doesn't remember wheat harvest and contrary to this picture, she wasn't very interested this year either. After about 10 minutes in the field, she was whining and pointing to the house. Little city girl.

Wheat harvest came very early this year. The earliest anyone can remember in a very long time. Dad started cutting on Memorial Day, so we loaded up and went to "help." Mom had to work, so we made a little lunch for Grandpa to eat while he cut. Sondra picked up Papa Murphy's for the rest of us and I brought food and a salad. Less work and mess than a barbecue and just as tasty!
