Mother's Day photos

We went to lunch for Mother's Day with my parents and grandma and my aunt and uncle, Dave and Marilyn and cousins, Ashley and Josh. Sadly, there are no pictures of me with my children. But there are pictures of everyone else with them...

Four generations, minus me


Grandma is scraping all of the chocolate onto a spoon to spoil her great-grandson.

This was the very beginning of lunch, before we got our food. But as soon as we got food, Jonathan woke up. He has some sort of sixth sense about food and not sleeping.

Grandma with Jonathan and Andrew - note the strawberry on a stick. This was the beginning of the end of Andrew's lunch. He stabbed his mouth with the stick and then refused to eat anything else until dessert showed up. See photo below...

Andrew didn't eat much lunch, but as soon as I got my cake, he suddenly appeared from no where demanding a fork.

Ahh, Mother's Day - not so relaxing with two small children and a loud restaurant. But at least we didn't have to cook or wash dishes! Happy Mother's Day to all my brave mommy friends. It's not an easy job, but I wouldn't trade it for anything, well at least most of the time. :)

This is what I usually get when I try to take a picture of Jonathan if Andrew is in the room. It appears that Jonathan's neck is breaking as he strains to watch his brother's antics.

More watching and taking mental notes, I fear!

We had a Nisly family April/May birthday celebration last week. Jonathan didn't nap that whole day. It's his new thing. *sigh* And when the Nislys get together, it tends to get quite loud as we all fight to be heard and Jonathan added to the noise by screaming most of the night. But that didn't stop all the cousins and aunts from wanting to hold him anyway! Here's Natasha braving the screams.

Twins?

So I thought my babies looked a lot alike until I looked at these pictures. While in the same outfit and almost the same age (Andrew is 11 weeks and Jonathan is 13 weeks) They definitely don't look like twins. Can you tell which is which?

Bath Time

Jonathan loves his bath. Last night I realized he is a victim of the sad second-child syndrome of very few pictures. So I tried to remedy that. He was so happy and smiley, but when the camera comes out, he has trouble remembering to look at me and smile. *sigh* And look at those little fat rolls. He's not going to be in the 50th percentile for long!

Bumbo Chair

Auntie Jill bought this T-shirt for Andrew and truer words were never spoken!

As you can, Andrew also likes to sit in the Bumbo even though he gets stuck half the time. We are s-l-o-w-l-y trying to potty train. He's gone twice and so I think he's starting to get the concept. But in the mean time, we've had some poop-in-the-bedroom issues. He secretly poops when he goes to his room to nap and then doesn't like it and instead of yelling for help, he removes his diaper and distributes poop around the room. It is more gross than I can describe. We had to go out and buy a steam cleaner vacuum because the first episode was so bad. We are not praying for patience, because I'm afraid God will allow more poop incidences to teach us patience, so we are just praying for wisdom. :) Feel free to join us in this prayer!

We just got this Bumbo chair for Jonathan because he likes to sit up and he can hold his neck, most of the time. Anyway, it's especially great for dinnertime. He thinks he's old enough to be at the table with us and we can eat with both hands free!

Look at these eyelashes! Hopefully Jonathan never needs glasses because they will rub the lenses and make him crazy!

Uncle Matt

My brother Matt was in town visiting/hunting last week, and we had dinner on Monday night at the most fabulous new restaurant. I know most of you don't live around here, but if you come to town, you have to try El Gaucho Steakhouse. It was so delicious and it's conveniently located near our house! Anyway, Andrew was super excited to see Unca Matt and trapped him in the playroom for awhile. And of course, any new person must read the bedtime stories. Here they are reading one of Andrew's favorites, "Don't Eat the Teacher." We can't wait until Matt comes to visit again in June to help with wheat harvest!
