First Snow

Throwing snowballs

Trying to catch some snowflakes

On February 13, we finally got about a 1/2 inch of snow. Just enough for the boys to play in. They were thrilled! I stayed on the porch and tried to use the zoom, which is why the pictures aren't the best. And by the next morning, the snow was all gone, much to the boys' dismay.

Keith's new toy

Keith got a new electric snow shovel from mom and dad for his birthday. I thought it was a gimmick, but it works. It throws the snow about 20 feet in the air. And yes, these pictures were taken from inside the house. It's cold out there! And I have children to look after.

I tried to use the handy new shovel today, and I'll just say that Keith makes it look a lot easier than it really is!

Snow Day Fun

What do you do when there is beautiful snow with bitter temperatures outside? Bring the snow inside! The outside air temp is in the single digits with negative wind chills - too cold to play in! So I scooped a couple of buckets of snow and let the boys play in the bathtub. They thought it was fun, but cold and asked for some gloves. And yes, they are barefoot. I can't keep socks on these boys! Their toes were about as red as their fingers when they were done playing with the snow.

Another snow day and a quote

This is what it looked like out our windows today. I'm not sure how many inches we got because the wind is strong and causing some drifting. Temperatures have been in the single digits with minus 10 and below wind chills. Needless to say, the kids and I did not leave the house today!

Hard to believe we were enjoying 70 degree weather on Friday and Saturday. The boys were so happy to play outside and now we are stuck inside for a little while. School is already cancelled for tomorrow. I see more games of Cars Go Fish in my future and maybe some cookie baking!

Andrew's quote for the day:
First let me set the stage. Boredom has set in and Andrew is going through my desk. I let him so I can have a few minutes at the computer. He finds my old, red film camera. He recognizes it is a camera and asks me to help him open it, but he can't quite figure it out. I open the back of the camera and try to explain where the film goes and that it doesn't open all the way. "Mommy, What is film?" Wow! Thanks for making me feel old kiddo!

I tried to explain film and negatives for a second and then gave up. Amazing to think that my children will never know about film and waiting to get your pictures developed to see what pictures turned out. Or never know about wishing you had taken more time to capture a moment because the first two tries were blurry. Maybe I'll try to buy some film so he can experience it just once.

Snow Day

We got a couple inches of snow this week and after being trapped in the house for several days, it was time to get the boys out! At first they continued with their argument that it was too cold, but after daddy went out, they were ready to go too! Turns out it wasn't too cold, just cold enough! But it was too cold for mommy and Hannah!

Why yes, that is a giant truck in our garage and no, I do not drive it.

I don't know if you can see the intense concentration on Jonathan's face, but he is working hard!

We believe in child labor around here!

Hey, Andrew, you don't need to shovel the yard. But you can if it makes you happy!

Teamwork!

Just when they about make you crazy, they flash this face at you!

Winter Wonderland

This was the scene out our windows when we woke up this morning. So beautiful! I don't know how much snow fell, but I'm guessing 4-5 inches with a couple more predicted to fall today. So now we are enjoying a lazy snow day at home.

Fun in the snow

Jonathan was a little frustrated that he couldn't push his car in the snow!

"A little help, please!"

Andrew ducking for cover from Daddy's snowballs.

Just missed him!

Jonathan checking on the little snowman.

Look out! Here comes Andrew with a giant snowball!

Andrew loved sliding into a big pile of snow.

Ready...Set...

Slide!
Jonathan's snow pants made him fly down the slide.

Andrew found a new way to sneak and throw snowballs at Keith, who was sitting innocently on the swing below.

Now you see him...

Now you don't.

Jonathan blocking the paparazzi.

The sun came out on Saturday morning and before all the snow could melt, the boys played and played until they were wet and freezing.

Snow Day!

Jonathan just wanted to eat the snow.

He ate lots of snow and after each bite would say, "YUM!"

Both boys eating some snow.

Trying to get them both to look at me...

Jonathan trying to wade through the snow.

Andrew helping me shovel the driveway!

Jonathan thinking about helping.

Climbing up the snow "mountain"

The snow was very dry and stuck to the boys like glue. Their hands were frozen after a couple of minutes!

Friday school was cancelled thanks to several inches of snow. I never heard how much we received but I would guess around 6 inches. Andrew was not happy about the snow at first and wasn't excited about playing in it. But that only lasted a few minutes and then he changed his mind! Jonathan, on the other hand, did not want to go inside, even after his clothes were soaked and he was turning into a little popsicle!
