Hannah's first day!

This big girl had her first day of Kid's Day Inn today. She was so excited and walked right into the classroom like she had been doing it since birth. KDI is just one day a week and a great intro into preschool. So, if you can't find me on Thursday mornings, it's because I'm running errands as fast as I can or sitting in quiet house soaking in the silence.

Hannah wanted her picture taken too!

The boys started school today! A 2nd grader and a Kindergartner - time is flying by! Jonathan was very excited to ride the bus and they both had a great first day!

Last day of 1st Grade

Andrew and Jonathan posing in front of Mary's beautiful roses after school.

Andrew looks so much older on the last day of 1st grade. He's still 7, but he looks about 10 in this pictures. (And yes, I may still have a Christmas decoration on my door...in May. Don't judge me.) Andrew had a great year of school and is reading everything he can get his hands on - mostly at 2nd-3rd grade level. He does math in his head - scary, and keeps us on our toes each and every day. We are looking forward to summer and reading some fun chapter books!

Andrew's Field Day

Brothers and snow cones. Does it get any sweeter?

Andrew and his friend, Gavin, competing together.

It was cold, but Jonathan was tough and ate the snow cone in the cold wind without a jacket. Hannah is rebelling against the constraints of the stroller, but I kept her strapped in for as long as she would let me!

Andrew's school field day was the first day of May. Generally the weather is perfect for this, and sometimes hot. But by the time we got the school, it was freezing. A north wind came out of nowhere and I foolishly left Jonathan's jacket in the car. I offered to go and get it for him, but he said he was fine, but by the time we left, the poor child was freezing. Andrew had a great time running from one event to another. He was so fast I had trouble getting many pictures of him. We are hoping next year is warmer and that I'm quicker with the camera.

Andrew's 1st Grade Spring Program

Jonathan, Brenna and Hannah waiting for the program to start.

The theme was Creepy Crawly Bugs and Andrew's class is the middle section - grasshoppers and lady bugs.

Andrew, Jonathan and Brenna posing outside of Maize South High.

Crazy photo bomber in the middle. I was trying to capture my car filled with four children.

Andrew's music program was also the first week of April. Sydney was still sick, so she and Jill couldn't join us. We adopted Brenna for the night and went to see Andrew's very cute buggy music program. Andrew did great and sang every song and did all the motions. So cute!

First Day of 1st Grade!

Andrew, a first grader  - age 7
(and Max, who was trying to figure out what was going on!)

These two, missed their big brother and we waited outside for the bus to bring him home.
And he's back!
Andrew started first grade today! It seems school is starting earlier and earlier, but we were all ready to get back into a routine. Andrew was very excited to go and didn't seem very nervous. It helped that we were able to go to meet-the-teacher night last week and see his new classroom and meet Mr. B. Jonathan only asked 3 or 4 times when Andrew would be home. I asked Andrew the best part of the day, and he said, "We get THREE recesses." And there you have it. Recess IS the most important part of the day.

Last Day of Kindergarten

First day of school, way back in August.
Our little boy got so big in one short school year!

Waiting for the bus

Bulletin board that the kids in Andrew's class decorated.

Last Thursday, Andrew had his last day of Kindergarten. This school year went by crazy fast and he has grown up so much! The last week of school, his teacher sent home this sweet memory book with pictures and highlights from the year. I scanned in a couple of pages to show here. So glad Andrew had such a great first year of school and such an amazing teacher!
