May Day!

Andrew and Jonathan checking for cars before sneaking across the street to deliver a May Day flower basket.
Andrew running up the sidewalk, while Jonathan runs to the hiding place, behind the trash bins.
Delivering the flowers and ringing the doorbell.
Running for cover.
Mary, looking for the mystery doorbell ringer.
She immediately spotted the little flower Andrew left for her.
The boys, hiding and waiting for me to give them the all-the-clear signal.

On May Day, Andrew came home with a cute little May Day basket they made at school. I ruined his surprise when I opened the door and asked him what was in the paper bag. He was trying to pretend that it wasn't from him and that it was a mystery gift. Since it was so cute and he really wanted me to be surprised, I suggested we re-gift the flower to our sweet neighbor. The boys were immediately excited about this idea and then the planning began. There were many ideas about the best way to deliver the flower and where to hide. They finally settled on hiding behind her trash bins while they waited for her to answer the door. And it worked perfectly.

Mary immediately figured out who delivered her May Basket and called me. She was so thrilled to have received the flower and told me she hadn't gotten a May Day Basket in years. So in the end, it all turned out great. Mary got a new flower and the boys got to spread some joy in the neighborhood and had fun at the same time.
