Pumpkin Patch time

Here's one attempt to get a picture with mommy and Andrew. Notice how tightly I'm hanging onto him...


Andrew would not sit on daddy's lap for this picture, but I thought this turned out pretty cute despite the lack of cooperation!

The Running Man

Yesterday we found a local pumpkin patch and let Andrew run free. He loved running from pumpkin to pumpkin and tried to pick a couple of them up. But his favorite part of the pumpkin patch was the "wadrfall." We had a hard time getting him to pose for any pictures. Mostly we captured the back of his head or the blur of him running past us.

Keith captured this monarch butterfly on a flower. Isn't he talented?!

Andrew's newest obsession is his sunglasses. When the sun is shining oh so bright, he'll look at me and say, "Oh, I nee my sugasses." Notice he says "need." These days he "needs" everything. Where does he learn such drama?? Today we were playing in the backyard and it was very sunny, and suddenly he needed his sunglasses, even when he was in the shade! And yes, he is helping water my flowers that are still thriving b/c it is still warm and sunny. I can't bear to let them die before the first freeze even though I'm sick of watering!

Baby #2

Well for those of you who haven't heard, this might be a little bit of a surprise, but it's true! Baby #2 is well on his way, due in early February. And yes, I said he. Looks like the ND theory is true - all babies made in ND are boys. Andrew is oblivious even though we keep asking him if he wants a baby brother. He always repeats it and then says yes. I have a feeling he'll be changing his tune when the baby gets here.

Aunt Sondra

Sondra got to spend a whole week with us and we shared her a little with mom and dad. Andrew loved hanging out with his Aunt Sondra or Shonra as he calls her. He especially liked having the task of waking her up in the morning! Unfortunately we were so busy while she was here that we didn't take too many pictures. Maybe we'll get more time at Christmas!

Kitty

Matt and Sarah were home last weekend and so Andrew and I stopped by their house to say Hi! They have a very tame stray farm cat who is starved for attention. This poor cat is not a bit bothered by Andrew and his cuddling skills. I think he was hoping if he hung around and begged long enough we'd feed him. He was right. Matt gave in and fed him some dog food, which he gobbled right down. Too bad we have Oliver who doesn't love any other animal or we might adopt that loveable kitty.

Messy Room!

With our recent napping troubles caused by Andrew climbing out of his crib, somedays it's hard to know if it's worth the fight...

As you can see, when we lock Andrew in his room for a nap, he sometimes finds other things to distract him, making it very hard to find time for a nap! But doesn't he look awfully proud of the mess he made. Now if we could just find a way to get him to put everything back where he found it!

Kansas State Fair

The blue ribbon pumpkin, weighing in at a mere 976 pounds.

Andrew and Grandma put this purple lawnmower to the test. I don't think the camera really captured the bright purple of this lawnmower. It was very K-State purple!

Andrew had to test drive this Polaris. I think I might need to invest in a helmet for him!

And then we saw a 4-wheeler just his size so I made him get on to take a quick picture.

Andrew and Grandpa took a boat ride, which Andrew loved!


And before we could leave the Fair, we had to take a quick train ride.

Yesterday Andrew and I took in the sights, tastes and smells of the Kansas State Fair with grandma and grandpa or bma and bpa as Andrew calls them. And yes, I did eat a Pronto Pup, but it wasn't as good as I remembered. The Indian Fry Bread, however, was delicious! Andrew wasn't really into eating all the yummy fried food, but he did settle for a plain ham sandwich and most of my cherry limeaid. Silly kid. We had a great time, but we were both VERY tired when we finally left. We watched a pig race, square dancing, a chainsaw exhibit and looked at lots of cattle panels and sheds. We also saw some cows and a butter sculpture. Ahh the wonders of the Fair. Now Keith wants to go this weekend. More fried food for me, YEAH!
